Spring clean your sales and marketing!

We've been busy little fairies at Marketing Wand which is great news for us!

This also means that we can certainly understand how difficult it is to find the time to review and reflect what you are doing, and fall into the trap of continuing on down the same path, whether this is effective or not!

Now is a really great time to take a moment out and reflect. Think of it as a spring clean!

For an established business, the path or journey of the client/customer/buyers/stakeholders engagement is always a great place to start. What does it look like versus how you thought it looked like and how can you influence this?

Research and data is at the heart of what Marketing Wand do and this is where we always start with our clients. Paula Walker, Information Manager at Marketing Wand adds to our story;

"Understanding your stakeholders experience is a great start when reviewing your sales and marketing process. Dependant on who your stakeholders are; prospects, clients, lost customers, public, and so on; knowing their perspective of your business through the different stages of the lifecycle of the relationship can provide you with the missing piece of the jigsaw. This will then help inform what changes you need in your marketing i.e. a new sales process, update the website, new social media strategy, new brochure, a rebrand, new product and so on."

For a start up business, being able to obtain feedback from customers may be a little difficult if you haven't any yet!

Paula adds;

"There are other techniques which can be used in this case, such as reasearching potential buyers. If you are selling to a business - who is the 'buyer' and the 'influencer'? It is amazing how many organisations assume this is the same for all of it's target marketing and find they have been trying to sell their product or service to the wrong person, or even type of person! Remember, even though you are selling to a business, people are involved, and they too have their own influences!"

Totally agree that Stakeholder experience is crucial. Allied to data analysis of previous success - this can become a very powerful tool for sales and marketing. This can allow companies to understand where they have been successful in the past and importantly why. Great for cross and up-sell. John Keating
